The Day of Rest: Morag Mondero Fallows & Laura Smith

Join yoga teachers Morag and Laura for a grounding day retreat designed to support deep rest and nervous system nourishment as we head into the darker half of the year.

From Pranayama and Pratyahara to Dharana and the Experience of Dhyana: Swami Vedantananda Saraswati

Yoga sadhana is a systematic practice which takes us from the gross to the more subtle layers of our being.

Over the years of our Harrogate weekends together we have explored Pranayama and Pratyahara quite extensively. For our weekend in 2026 we will move up to the next rung of the ladder and the next stage of Yoga Sadhana and explore the practices of Dharana, which with practice will move us to the experience of Dhyana.

Dharana means to hold the mind steady on one point or one place with out moving. It is one pointed awareness where the mind does not move in any direction or to any distraction and for this we need an object to hold on to. This can be the breath, a chakra, a psychic passageway, a mantra or a space within the body, like Chidakasha or Hridayakasha. Dharana is the state of perfect concentration and leads us to meditation or Dhyana. In the Katha Upanishad {2:3:11} Lord Yama explains to his student Nachiketas: The firm control of the senses and the mind is the yoga of concentration. One must be ever watchful for this yoga is difficult to achieve and easy to lose.

The sessions will include: some Theory, Asana, Pranayama, Yoga Nidra and various practices of Dharana. Please bring something to share for lunch, drinks are provided. Mats, cushions and covers are also provided at the venue, so no need to bring your own unless you prefer to.  You may also need a notebook and pen.

Cost: £170.00 the weekend, non-residential, Early bird price - £155.00 if booked before 14 February 2026

It is possible to enrol for one or the other of the days. Preference will be given to those booking for the weekend. Daily price £95.00 per day £85.00 if booked before 14 February 2026.

The Hips: Power of the Psoas & Piriformis: Roberta Jesson

Hip stability and flexibility are integral to the health of the whole body.  An issue with the hips can move up or down the physical body (the kinematic chain) affecting backs, knees, ankles, shoulders, the hips themselves and even the ability to take a deep breath causing anxiety and even panic attacks.  Learning how to build strength in this area helps create a more elastic muscle that will be more willing to stretch.  In this workshop, we will explore two of the main muscles of the hips- the Psoas (hip flexor) and the Piriformis (Hip Abductor and lateral rotator).  When strong and healthy the Psoas and Piriformis can improve back, hip and knee stability, the psoas being a key element of the core muscles of the body, can even promote deeper breathing. But do you really know how to activate them? Should you try and stretch them? Or is it all about strength? 

This workshop is designed to teach you how to connect with the Psoas and Piriformis through breath, theory, practice, and visualisation. It is suitable for yoga teachers, students or those interested in increasing their A&P knowledge of this critical group of muscles. 

Roberta Jesson has been a yoga teacher for 21 years and is a BWY Experienced DCT & FCT, specialising in Foundation, Certificate, and Diploma teacher training. Roberta has a strong passion for anatomy and physiology, honed through a decade of teaching yoga in a physiotherapy practice. She enjoys sharing her knowledge through engaging anatomical workshops. Moving From Centre Workshop: Amanda Latchmore

During the morning we’ll learn how developing a strong, mobile core can lead to naturally good alignment. To achieve this, we’ll explore navel radiation – an infant developmental movement pattern we all experienced as babies. Our aim will be to re-integrate the pattern, so our poses become more cohesive, limbs connecting into and out from centre, prana/breath movement travelling more readily through the body, thus creating a feeling of effortlessness.

The morning will run from 9.30am – 1.00pm with a tea/coffee break accompanied by Bettys biscuits. The cost of the workshop is £45.

Wellbeing Day Retreat: Leanne de Courcy

A day to escape the busyness of life. Come along to my nurturing autumn day retreat where you can take time out for yourself and relax. Day retreats are a lovely way of meeting like minded people. 

The relaxing day will include Dru yoga, meditation, breath work and relaxation. A delicious vegetarian lunch will be served and homemade cakes and drinks are provided.

In the afternoon we will enjoy a sound bath relaxation where you will be ‘bathed’ by the beautiful sounds of musical instruments, gongs, singing bowls, percussion and chimes. A wonderful way to feel nurtured and restored.
